Top Roads to Explore in Mississippi as a Motorcyclist

There’s nothing better than enjoying a motorcycle ride on a bright sunny day in Mississippi. This state has so much natural beauty that motorcyclists can appreciate when they go for a long ride.

If you are a motorcyclist in Mississippi, you know that you have choices when it comes to where you’re going to ride. Let’s take a look at some of the best routes and roads you can explore. With summer in tow, there’s no better time to start exploring than now.

The Best Roads Mississippi Motorcyclists Need to Explore

There are so many beautiful routes to ride in Mississippi. You don’t need to look far to find a route that’s good for you. There are a few components of the routes that you should keep in mind. The first is road quality. Some trails may fall on newly paved or well-maintained roads, while others are on older roads that are cracked, have potholes, or the road changes to gravel. You may want to tailor your chosen trails given your experience. A seasoned veteran may not have to think twice about the road surface changing, but those who are still learning may want to stick to more even, reliable roads.

The next item you should consider is where the route takes you. Will you be traveling through well-populated areas where there will be plenty of rest stops and places for you to get gas, food, or make a phone call? Or will you be in the country with fewer stops and poor cell phone reception? You may feel more comfortable knowing that help is close by on a new route. You can also take into account what kind of route you want. Do you want to be taken through towns or possibly busier places or would you rather be on a more remote route in nature? Luckily, Mississippi has options for all.

One route is called the Gulf Coast at Its Best. The journey can start in Mobile, Alabama. Take the 1-10 and then Highway 90, which passes through Theodore. Take the highway west out of the state and then you’re in Mississippi. This route takes you through Pascagoula, Biloxi, and Gulfport and the route is relatively flat and friendly for many motorcyclists. Anyone near the coast in Mississippi can access it. You can enjoy the gorgeous scenery that includes, forests, bays, beaches, inlets, and more. There are plenty of places to stop and grab a bite to eat or walk around for a bit and take a break from riding.

Another that motorcyclists may enjoy is Natchez Trace Parkway. It spans about 430 miles, which goes from Natchez, Mississippi to Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. You can easily find an entry point close to you and ride the length of the route that works for you. The Mississippi area includes forests full of magnolias, beeches, pines, and oaks. It’s most beautiful in the spring when everything is flowering and budding. The roads are fairly easy to navigate, but there are some hills. The speed on these roads aren’t as fast either, which makes it perfect for a laid-back drive. There are some fascinating historical sites along the route and in the towns that you’ll drive through. You’ll have opportunities to stop, rest, and maybe learn a little bit more about Mississippi.

Old Port Gibson Road is another noteworthy route. It begins in Raymond MS. You travel south on Old Highway 18 and you’ll turn right on Old Port Gibson Road, which will take you to Highway 61. At this point, you’re about a mile away from Port Gibson or can continue to Vicksburg. This isn’t a scenery-heavy route, but does have some of the trees like the Natchez route. The road conditions include long straight and curved roads, and there are some twists and turns as you continue the route. This is a slightly less populated route, so it will be a quieter ride with less amenities.
